How can you empower clients to move from ambivalence to action? This course will provide you with the practical skills and confidence to facilitate meaningful behavior change using Motivational Interviewing (MI). Through a blend of foundational knowledge, communication skills, and working with real-life scenarios from your own field, you'll learn to navigate client resistance and foster collaboration. By the end of the course, you'll be ready to integrate motivational interviewing into your practice and make a positive impact on your clients' lives.
1. Recognize and describe the four core attitudes that form the foundation of MI: Partnership, Acceptance, Compassion, and Evocation.
2. Understand and explain the key communication skills that support MI in practice: Reflective Listening and Open-Ended Questions
3. Develop questions that invite clients to elaborate and express themselves more fully.
4. Participate in role-plays and simulations to practice MI conversations in a safe, supportive environment, building confidence and skill.
5. Create a personal MI action plan by developing concrete goals and strategies for integrating MI into your ongoing practice.
