In this course we will develop a deeper understanding of a range of historic and current theoretical approaches to child growth and development from a cross-cultural perspective. We will learn how child growth and development continues as part of ongoing lifespan development and about the holistic and interdependent nature of growth and development. We will learn the stages and milestones in the developmental process and use this learning to observe, document, assess, plan, implement and evaluate.

We will develop skills designed to help with planning appropriate programs, responses and interventions and learn to provide children with access to a range of activity areas that promote small and large motor, cognitive, creative, language and social/emotional development and incorporate art, music, movement, dramatic play, language, literature, science, social and math experiences.

We will learn how to ensure that programming is informed by knowledge of each child's unique needs, stage of development and learning style and provide a wide range of stimulating and challenging play-based activities that foster the development of the whole child.
