In this course learners examine and critique language, perceptions, attitudes, and treatments of persons who experience barriers to social inclusion due to being disabled. Several approaches are proposed for encouraging belonging including social justice, accessibility, and equity values. Practical components of this course include learning, observing, and applying universal design for safety, belonging, and enrichment of the people we support. Additionally, learners will create and present a person-centered plan, including disability information, with a cultural lens, that meets the requirements of the field.
