This course explores and examines mental health and addictions experiences, diagnoses, and methods of treatment and support in a broad range of settings. Various approaches are explored and applied including a cultural lens, a bio-psycho-social model, and person-in-environment perspectives. Examples of harm reduction and abstinence models of addiction recovery are provided. Practical activities include the completion and use of a personal wellness plan. Signs, symptoms, and treatment methods used in mental health and addictions are explored. Additionally, with a cultural lens, learners will learn how to create mental health and/or addictions support strategies.
