In this 36-hour course, students will acquire the knowledge and skills to be effective team members in providing support to people who are facing communication challenges. Students will gain an appreciation of the importance of communication in their own lives and in the lives of the people they support. Learners will be introduced to a variety of augmentative and alternative systems and devices and will gain hands-on strategies to contribute to improved safety and quality of life assisting people in overcoming communication barriers.
