Course Description:

This 36-hour course explores and examines mental health & addictions experiences, diagnoses, and methods of treatment and support in a broad range of settings. Various approaches are learned and applied including a cultural lens, a bio-psycho-social model, and person-in-environment perspectives. Examples of harm reduction and abstinence models of addiction recovery will be provided. Practical activities include the completion and use of a personal wellness plan. We also explore signs, symptoms, and treatment methods used in mental health & addictions. Additionally, with a cultural lens, students will create a mental health and/or addictions presentation.
